Damask tablecloths — with their woven patterns — require careful handling to preserve the texture and sheen. Professional cleaning followed by hand-pressing preserves the pattern definition that rough machine washing can flatten or distort.

Silk Table Runners and Overlays

Silk should always be professionally dry cleaned. Silk is extremely sensitive to water staining, heat, and agitation. A home washing attempt on silk almost always results in permanent damage.

Polyester and Synthetic Blends

Common Table Linen Stains and How to Approach Them

Red Wine

Act fast. Blot immediately — don't rub. Salt can help absorb fresh wine before it sets. Rinse with cold water if you're at home, then bring to us as soon as possible. Red wine that has dried and set is significantly harder to remove.

Candle Wax

Let the wax harden completely before attempting removal. Once solid, you can try to flake off the wax with a dull edge. Place the fabric between paper bags or paper towels and iron over it — the heat draws the wax into the paper. Bring to us for the remaining oil stain that wax leaves behind.

Grease and Butter

Apply talcum powder or cornstarch to fresh grease stains to absorb the oil before it sets. Let sit 15-30 minutes, then gently brush away before bringing to us for pre-treatment.

Grass and Outdoor Stains

Common at outdoor events and BBQs. Pre-treat with a stain remover and bring to us promptly. Grass stains contain chlorophyll that can be difficult to remove if allowed to oxidize.
